About Beeswing Media
Beeswing Media is Alan McLellan's personal documentary project, dedicated to preserving the stories of Britain's lost railways. The focus is the Port Road — the Castle Douglas & Portpatrick Railway — which once ran from Dumfries to Stranraer through the hills of South West Scotland before its closure in 1965. Through film, photography and archive research, Alan brings these vanished lines back to life.On the left is the old Lochanhead Station, then and now

The Route
The Port Road — 14 Stations, 73 Miles
The Castle Douglas–Portpatrick Railway, running from Dumfries to Stranraer through the hills of South West Scotland.

The Documentary
Alan walks the full length of the Port Road — from Dumfries to Stranraer — retracing the route through farmland, moorland and forgotten cuttings. The documentary is currently in production.
